Matty's Bone Age xray result.....
So, the pediatrician called tonight-he received the report from the Radiologist's office for Matty's bone age xray that was taken yesterday. The report shows that Matty's "bone age" is only 19 months, however, chronologically he is almost 27 months. That is a delay of 8 months. Ped sounded concerned that there was such a huge difference. I am not sure what all of this means, if anything. The ped did seem happy that we already are scheduled to see a Pediatric Endocrinologist at CHOP...........so for now, we just have to wait until March for that appointment..........

What does this mean? Oh, what you must be feeling. Thoughts and prayers are sent your way. If its not one thing, its another. Keep us posted.
Many prayers for Matty. I can't even begin to think of what this could possibly mean or what you are going through.
March!! That is crazy, but I too know how booked the specialists can be. Try your best not to think about it too much, Matty is a happy little boy and right now that is all that matters.
Are you stressing? I'll be praying for you guys - I've never heard of this. I'm following to see how he is!
I'm a long-time lurker on your blog and have always enjoyed reading about your sweet kids! I've never commented before, but had to comment this time. My son also has a very delayed bone age. At 24 months old, his bone age was just 9 months. In his case, this was caused by a genetic "disorder" called Constitutional Growth Delay. It's not dangerous and basically just means that kids are genetically designed to be very small while they are growing up.
Of course, this might not be the reason for Matty's delayed bone age. No matter what the cause though, our ped-endo told me that a delayed bone age is a good thing in a child who is very small because it means that they will still have those "extra" years to catch up in growth.
